Our False Ceiling Process

1

Design and layout

We agree the design, ceiling drop and positions of lights, fans, AC units and access panels with you.

2

Height check

Low rooms get a peripheral or cove-only design, so that about 8.5 ft of clear height remains in most of the room.

3

Framework

GI channels are fixed to the slab at the spacing the board maker specifies, with separate supports for heavy light fittings.

4

Fan points

Fans are hung from a hook in the concrete slab with a down-rod passing through the ceiling, never from the ceiling frame.

5

Boarding and jointing

Boards are screwed, then joints are taped and filled with jointing compound so they do not crack later.

6

Finishing

The ceiling is sanded, primed and painted, and lights are fitted and tested.

False Ceiling FAQs

In 2026, a plain gypsum false ceiling costs about ₹70 to ₹110 per sq ft installed in Bangalore, and a layered gypsum design with cove lighting ₹110 to ₹170 per sq ft. POP costs ₹65 to ₹110, PVC ₹60 to ₹130 and office grid ceilings ₹55 to ₹95 per sq ft. Lights are extra.

Gypsum is better for most homes: it is factory-made, quicker to install, cleaner on site and gives an even finish. POP is shaped on site, so it suits curved and detailed designs, but it takes longer and is messier.

Gypsum board is the best all-round choice for living rooms and bedrooms. Use PVC in bathrooms, balconies and kitchens because it is water-resistant, and POP only where a curved or highly detailed design needs it.

PVC is best for bathrooms and balconies because it does not absorb water. In kitchens, use PVC or moisture-resistant gypsum boards, and keep the ceiling clear of the stove and chimney area.

A 10 x 10 ft room is 100 sq ft. A plain gypsum ceiling costs about ₹7,000 to ₹11,000, and a layered design with cove lighting about ₹11,000 to ₹17,000, excluding lights and wiring.

It works, and it is cheap and quick to fit, but the panel lines are visible and it looks less refined than gypsum. Most homeowners prefer gypsum for bedrooms and living rooms and PVC for wet areas.

The fan should never hang from the false ceiling itself. It must hang from a hook fixed in the concrete slab above, with a down-rod that passes through a neat cut-out in the ceiling.

The common causes are water leaking from above, framework fixed too far apart, joints left untaped, and heavy lights hung directly on the boards. Fixing the leak and re-framing the affected area usually solves it.

A gypsum ceiling for one room takes about 2 to 3 days including painting, and a full 2BHK or 3BHK about 7 to 10 working days. PVC ceilings for a bathroom can be done in a day.

Slightly. The air gap above the ceiling acts as insulation, which helps most on top-floor rooms under a hot roof slab. Adding an insulation layer above the boards improves the effect further.
